System Design Engineering Integration

TSM uses an iterative approach to ensure System Design Specifications are developed in accordance with applicable requirements for new equipment and development of change documentation for proposed modifications of existing equipment to establish functional baselines.

Upon selection of a vendor to manufacture the equipment, the following actions and quality assurance processes are executed:

• Develop production schedules
• Conduct a preliminary design review
• Conduct critical design reviews
• Evaluate systems engineering plans and schedules for development of subset plans
  • Reliability/Maintainability/Availability (RMA)
  • Safety
  • Integrated logistics support
  • Human engineering
  • Electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility
  • Configuration control
  • Quality control

Related tasks include:

• Evaluate computer-aided design packages
• Review configuration and documentation control processes
• Conduct logistics support analysis reviews to:
  • Identify and analyze support alternatives
  • Evaluate failure analyses
  • Evaluate level of repair analyses
  • Identify and resolve problems
  • Determine adequacy of project maintenance and spares availability
• Participate in and evaluate:
  • Computer-simulated tests and first article tests of preproduction equipment
  • Compliance with established operational and integration specification requirements
  • Demonstrations of supportability and RMA
  • Production capabilities to meet established schedules
  • Test readiness
  • Configuration audits
  • Design configuration and final drawings
  • Compliance with Type B specifications for new or modified equipment
